OCEAN - Screening and Q&A
We are delighted that the MARINE THEATRE is hosting a special screening of 'OCEAN WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH' followed by an exclusive talk and Q&A with one of the film's directors, KEITH SCHOLEY. In partnership with AGILE RABBIT.
The film, which takes viewers on a breathtaking journey, highlights that there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean.
David Attenborough reveals how his lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery. Through spectacular sequences featuring coral reefs, kelp forests and the open ocean, Attenborough shares why a healthy ocean keeps the entire planet stable and flourishing.
Stunning, immersive cinematography showcases the wonder of life under the seas and exposes the realities and challenges facing our ocean as never-before-seen, from destructive fishing techniques to mass coral reef bleaching. Yet the story is one of optimism, with Attenborough pointing to inspirational stories from around the world to deliver his greatest message: the ocean can recover to a glory beyond anything anyone alive has ever seen.
See a preview of the film here: https://youtu.be/cIZAdCtKT_g
Tickets can be purchased at: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/t-kdovaqg or in person at the Marine Theatre, without a booking charge, on Mondays only between 10am - 1pm.

Jo in The Water - Screening and Q&A
We are delighted that the MARINE THEATRE is hosting a special screening of 'Jo in the Water' followed by an exclusive Q&A with JO, the documentary's director, PIP PIPER, and Surfers Against Sewage CEO, GILES BRISTOW.
Jo in the Water follows a passionate sea swimmer turned reluctant activist, Exmouth-based Jo Bateman, as she takes on one of the UK’s biggest water companies in a David-and-Goliath battle to protect our waters from devastating sewage pollution.
As Jo’s courage helps ignite a growing movement, this film exposes the dire state of our water system and asks: who will stand up for our right to swim in clean natural waters, for the species and communities that rely upon them?
Jo in the Water is a feature-length documentary made by award-winning filmmakers with a strong track record of bringing powerful stories to our cinema screens. It is not just about water pollution; it is about connection—to nature, to our own sense of place, and to our responsibility for the world around us.
Featuring Jo Bateman, Jeremy Vine, Jim Murray MBE, and Chris Packham.
A preview of the documentary can be seen here: https://youtu.be/LgwULRkm7Jc
Tickets can be purchased at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/t-vxveyjq or in person at the MARINE THEATRE, without a booking charge, on Mondays only between 10.am and 1.00pm.
Bar opens at 6.00pm with the Documentary being shown at 7.00pm

DORSET GREENER HOMES
Do you want to help nature and the environment by making some changes at home?
Residents across Dorset are inviting in visitors at the end of September to share ideas and examples for greener living. Carefully selected homes in and around Lyme and Charmouth will be on show across the weekend of September 20th and 21st.
You can learn what it’s like to run your heating from an air source heat pump, how to design a state of the art new build or carry out major improvements to a Grade 2 listed Dorset long house. You can also get top tips on how to cultivate native wildflowers in a small space. There’s something for everyone.
Property owners will be on hand to discuss the pros and cons of going all electric and what you can do to help nature in your own patch. Booking is essential for most of the properties plus a few are available at other times to visit by appointment. You will be really inspired – as one resident said: “We are delighted with the results despite the cost, disruption and hard work”.
Dorset Climate Action Network has been running the open homes programme across the county for the last four years.
Vicki Elcoate of Dorset CAN and Turn Lyme Green, who’s the local organiser for the Lyme area, said: “we find that visitors often go on to make their own improvements – and then open their homes to visitors in following years. It’s so helpful to see how you can make your home cosier, cut your carbon footprint and save money at the same time. We can provide all the data you need to make those important decisions”.
BOOKING is essential for most of the properties, plus a few are available at other times to visit by appointment :-
