DORSET GREENER HOMES
Do you want to help nature and the environment by making some changes at home?
Residents across Dorset are inviting in visitors at the end of September to share ideas and examples for greener living. Carefully selected homes in and around Lyme and Charmouth will be on show across the weekend of September 20th and 21st.
You can learn what it’s like to run your heating from an air source heat pump, how to design a state of the art new build or carry out major improvements to a Grade 2 listed Dorset long house. You can also get top tips on how to cultivate native wildflowers in a small space. There’s something for everyone.
Property owners will be on hand to discuss the pros and cons of going all electric and what you can do to help nature in your own patch. Booking is essential for most of the properties plus a few are available at other times to visit by appointment. You will be really inspired – as one resident said: “We are delighted with the results despite the cost, disruption and hard work”.
Dorset Climate Action Network has been running the open homes programme across the county for the last four years.
Vicki Elcoate of Dorset CAN and Turn Lyme Green, who’s the local organiser for the Lyme area, said: “we find that visitors often go on to make their own improvements – and then open their homes to visitors in following years. It’s so helpful to see how you can make your home cosier, cut your carbon footprint and save money at the same time. We can provide all the data you need to make those important decisions”.

DORSET GREENER HOMES - SOLAR PANELS
An event sponsored by Lyme Regis Town Council, Turn Lyme Green and Dorset Greener Homes.
Do you want to reduce your energy bills and carbon emissions? You can do both by installing solar panels on your roof. With high fuel prices you could pay back the cost in 7-9 years and increase the value of your home.
We have arranged for three local installers we trust to offer a competitive rate, for 20-40 homes around Lyme Regis to install PVs and/or batteries.
Come to a meeting at 7pm on Tuesday May 20th for details of the scheme and get answers to your questions from our recommended installers.
Just ask for a survey and quotation, no obligation.
These are not the cheapest panels but we have chosen reliable installers we trust who will install good quality equipment which will last.
If you cannot make the meeting but are interested please email Turn Lyme Green at enquiries@turnlymegreen.co.uk
LRTC, Turn Lyme Green and Dorset Can ARE NOT getting any payment from the installer – we just want to see more solar panels to tackle climate change.
