Miller’s Farm Shop Cut the Packaging - with TLG help
Millers Farm Shop at Kilmington is a thriving family-run business that relies on healthy soil. They are now selling biodegradable muslin bags for fruit and vegetable shopping that can be washed and reused over and over again. Olivia Miller, Director and Shop Manager says, “By reducing single-use, throw away packaging we aim for less waste which is healthier for our customers and the land.”
Supermarkets cover almost everything in plastic. The resulting microplastics and forever chemicals remain in the bodies of humans and animals, the air, soil and water. Millers Farm Shop is one of the only outlets in the area that sells loose fruit and vegetables and uses minimal packaging and plastics. it stand out
The muslin Freggie Bags are hand made in Lyme Regis by TLG’s recycle sewing group. Proceeds from the bags go towards paying for the materials and environmental projects.
Sewing group member, Liz Davis says, “We are so pleased that Millers are selling the Freggie bags. We love making them and really hope that Millers’ customers will enjoy using them and be happy they are contributing to healthier living.”
Each pack contains six medium bags and one larger bag made from unbleached muslin, and a carry-bag to hang on the shopping trolley, made from donated material.
