AXEWOODS

  • Chardstock Community Hall, Westcombes Axminster, EX13 7BJ (map)

CHARDSTOCK ECO GROUP invite you to join them for their next presentation by AXEWOODS CO-OPERATIVE.

Axewoods Co-operative is a not for profit volunteer organisation which undertakes a range of Woodland Management activities in return for timber. They address local fuel poverty through the East Devon Log Bank, an initiative to make dry, seasoned logs free to local people in fuel poverty and those in need of immediate help.

Learn about the origins of Axewoods and how a group with little or no experience in forestry developed into the large-scale operation it is today.

ROGER CUTTING retired from sedate university lecturing into forestry which has presented all sorts of interesting challenges.

GRAHAM STARK worked for the Metropolitan Police for 30 years, moved down to Devon and was press ganged into joining Axewoods - plodding round forests instead of the beat.

This story is about their journey ……

As ever, this talk is free and refreshments will be provided. There will be a raffle, and they will be delighted to accept donations.
