Grow your own food and flowers - free seeds to plant and enjoy - that’s what Seed Saturday this coming Saturday (March 7) is all about. We hope to see you there - more details below.

We are active campaigners so there’s a lot of action coming up. You can support by joining in, telling your friends and neighbours and using your voice to support efforts to tackle the crisis nature, and therefore our local community, is facing.

FREGGIES FOR YOUR VEGGIES

Millers Farm Shop at Kilmington is a thriving family-run business that relies on healthy soil. They are now selling biodegradable muslin bags for fruit and vegetable shopping that can be washed and reused over and over again. The bags are made by TLG’s recycle sewing group to add to their boomerang bag offering. Olivia Miller, Director and Shop Manager says, “By reducing single-use, throw away packaging we aim for less waste which is healthier for our customers and the land.” Read more.

TLG joins the Woodroffe Parents, Teachers and Friends Association to tackle urgent environmental challenges including declining biodiversity in gardens and the rapid loss of habitat for bees and other pollinating insects.

GREAT BIG DORSET BEACH CLEAN - APRIL 12

The February litter pick attracted an amazing 35 volunteers! They shifted a huge amount of post storm rubbish, tackling plastic pollution. The collection included a lot of plastic fishing equipment - knots cut from nets and dropped in the water.

The next litter pick is part of Litter Free Dorset's annual Great Dorset Beach Clean and will take place on Sunday 12 April from 1500-1700. Meet at the RNLI Shop on The Cobb. We provide gloves, bags and pickers or bring your own. Our kind supporter, Baboo Gelato, is once again offering a hot drink (please bring a reusable cup) or ice cream to all participants.

JOIN THE CAMPAIGN TO STOP SEWAGE POLLUTION

Grenville Barr says: "Building on the last two successful years, I'm delighted to confirm that, together with Simon Bones, the local SAS area representative, we are going to participate in the Big Paddle out on Saturday the 16th of May this year. This is a national event throughout the UK and many other communities will be supporting it with their own events. Please come along - fancy dress and suitable messages welcomed!”.
